Start of the Fourth Phase of Barrandov Bridge Renovation: Traffic Restrictions and Congestion Warning

On Monday, August 19th, the Technical Administration of Roads of the Capital City of Prague (TSK) and its contractor will begin the fourth phase of the comprehensive renovation of the Barrandov Bridge. Starting from 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 17th, new traffic restrictions will take effect as part of this phase, particularly impacting drivers traveling from Jižní spojka to Smíchov and from Modřanská Street.

The most significant change will be the reduction of lanes in the direction of Prague 5 to just one lane, which is likely to cause considerable congestion, especially during peak hours. Drivers are strongly encouraged to pay attention to temporary traffic signs and plan their journeys in advance.

During this phase, traffic will be shifted from the northern to the southern half of the Barrandov Bridge. For vehicles traveling in the opposite direction, towards Prague 4, the current traffic pattern will remain unchanged, with traffic continuing to flow over the southern bridge.

Key restrictions, such as the ongoing closure of access from Strakonická Street, will remain in place. Drivers are advised to consider alternative routes, including the reversible ramp at Lihovar, which has been utilized in previous construction phases. For longer journeys, the Prague Ring Road, with the Písnice exit, can serve as a viable alternative.

Additionally, TSK is closely coordinating its measures with relevant authorities to minimize potential overlaps with construction work on the Prague Ring Road (D0) near Lochkov. Despite extensive coordination and traffic modeling, increased congestion and stressful driving conditions are still expected.

Drivers should prepare for delays and, where possible, use alternative routes or public transportation to reduce the impact of the ongoing construction work.
