About three years ago, Lenka Goldsmidová started her healthy snack and cake business, Len’s Delights, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Although she had a stable job in the hotel industry, she was determined to fulfill her dream of running her own business. Today, she offers a wide range of healthy and delicious raw food snacks that are becoming increasingly popular among her customers in Prague.
Lenka lived in Australia for many years, where she developed an appreciation for healthy lifestyles and products. Australians, she told Czech News, are very conscious about what they eat and how much they exercise. Inspired by the use of simple, healthy, and easily accessible ingredients available in any shop, Lenka began experimenting while living in Australia, initially making raw balls for her own consumption.
Her snacks are handmade using raw, vegan, and gluten-free ingredients, formed into colorful balls in various flavors. Encouraged by her friends, who saw potential in her creations, Lenka eventually took the plunge and dedicated herself full-time to her business.
Although she faced challenges in making her business a success, Lenka is now proud to offer a wide range of healthy delicacies that are growing in popularity in Prague. According to Lenka, her snacks are particularly popular with children, who often “drag their mums by the leg to the stall.” She was “kind of surprised that so many mums come to her stall,” noting that “they don’t mind spending money.”
“It’s all about colors and shapes,” she said, adding that children appreciate the free “treats”—like cherries or strawberries from her own garden—that she often includes in her boxes of raw fruit-based snacks.
Her most popular balls include the ‘Tropical Temptation with Mango’ and ‘Lemon Meltaway with Raspberries’ varieties. Lenka also draws inspiration from Czech culture by using traditional ingredients such as poppy seeds, while offering more internationally influenced variations like ‘Medjool dates & turmeric in white sesame.’
Since the beginning, Lenka has expanded her product range to include beautiful and delicious raw cakes, granola, and the highly popular tapioca pudding.
This autumn, Lenka plans to open a pick-up location in Prague. “So far, I can say the pick-up place will be very close to Malostranské Náměstí in Prague. More details can be found on our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram,” she shared. Additionally, she is seeking new partners, such as cafés and restaurants, that would like to offer her cakes alongside their non-vegan dessert options.
In addition to Prague farmers’ markets and various events that Lenka attends, customers in Prague can also order all varieties of snacks online through her website, Len’s Delights E-Shop. Although the website is in Czech, it includes a Google Translate tool, making it accessible and easy to use in both German and English.
