HC Sparta Prague Secures First Win of the 2024/25 CHL Season Against Fehérvár

On the second matchday of the 2024/25 Champions Hockey League season, HC Sparta Prague faced Hungarian side Fehérvár AV19 in the Czech capital. After narrowly losing their opening game at home to Tappara Tampere, Sparta was determined to bounce back. Meanwhile, Fehérvár, having suffered a heavy defeat against Pardubice in their first match, were eager to make amends.

However, the first period didn’t go as expected: Fehérvár started strong, surprising both the home crowd and Sparta. The Hungarians dominated the opening 20 minutes, taking a deserved lead through Anže Kuralt, who converted a rebound in front of Sparta’s goalkeeper, Josef Kořenář.

Sparta found their footing in the second period but struggled to break through Fehérvár’s solid defense. Kryštof Hrabík eventually equalized, deflecting a shot from Jakub Krejčík into the net. Fehérvár quickly responded, with Anže Kuralt scoring his second goal after an impressive solo run, restoring the Hungarian side’s lead.

The game shifted in Sparta’s favor in the final period. A five-on-three powerplay gave the home team the opportunity to equalize early, followed by another goal just a minute later, putting Sparta ahead for the first time in the match.
