Weather Improves After Severe Flooding in the Czech Republic

Following several days of intense rainfall, which led to severe flooding in large parts of the Czech Republic, the weather is now expected to improve significantly. According to the latest forecast from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ), starting Wednesday, showers will become less frequent, and temperatures will rise to more pleasant levels. The population can expect sunny, rain-free weather by the weekend.

However, today (Monday), the weather will remain unsettled and rainy, particularly in the mountainous regions of the country. In the Jeseníky, Krkonoše, and Novohradské Mountains, up to 40 millimeters of rainfall is expected, while in Šumava, precipitation may reach up to 50 millimeters per square meter. This ongoing difficult weather has worsened conditions in flood-affected areas.

Meteorologists predict that rainfall will gradually decrease from the northeast throughout the day. In the heavily impacted northern and northeastern areas, the rain is expected to ease by morning, while southwestern Bohemia may continue to experience rainfall into Tuesday night. Temperatures will stay cool today, with a maximum of 20°C.

    Gradual Improvement Starting Tuesday

On Tuesday, the weather will remain cloudy in many areas, and rain may persist, especially in the southern and southwestern regions. However, the weather is expected to improve throughout the day as skies begin to clear and precipitation decreases. Temperatures will rise slightly, with the national average ranging between 18°C and 22°C, though southern Bohemia may remain cooler at around 16°C.

By Wednesday, the Czech Republic can expect even friendlier weather, with variable cloud cover, occasional showers, and temperatures reaching up to 24°C. The winds, which aggravated the flooding over the weekend, will diminish. Meteorologists are forecasting sunny, rain-free conditions for the weekend, with daily highs around 20°C.

This improvement comes at a critical time for the flood-affected regions, as the extreme weather has posed major challenges for many areas. The upcoming period of sunny, dry weather will not only bring relief to residents but also facilitate clean-up efforts.
