The Czech Republic and South Korea have expanded their cooperation in the transport sector. During a meeting in Prague, the transport ministers of both countries signed a memorandum to enhance collaboration in high-speed rail and air transport.
Czech Transport Minister Martin Kupka and his South Korean counterpart, Sang-woo Park, have signed an agreement focusing on rail transport, specifically the construction and safety of high-speed railway lines. The memorandum also aims to strengthen cooperation between Czech and Korean companies.
The meeting occurred during a Korean delegation’s visit to Prague. Both ministers highlighted the importance of clean mobility and explored new opportunities in this field. They also supported the development of air transport.
“The exchange of knowledge and technology will help us optimize costs and improve our railway projects. The experience with PPP projects in rail transport will be invaluable for us,” said Kupka. He also announced plans to increase the number of flight connections with South Korea next year.
Another key aspect of the agreement is the expansion of Prague Airport as a significant transport hub. A new airline for direct flights between the Czech Republic and South Korea is expected to be selected by the end of the year. This development aims to boost tourism and cargo traffic between the two countries. The current contract allows for an increase of up to seven flights per week.
The enhanced cooperation is expected to position the Czech Republic as a key player in the international transport and mobility industry.
