Czech Railways (České dráhy) has announced a 4.9% increase in fares for 2025. This adjustment, effective from 15 December 2024, reflects recent inflation and rising costs. For shorter journeys, the price for adults without a discount will rise by 1 to 5 crowns.
In addition to the price increase, ČD plans to introduce up to 140 new trains, providing passengers with over 22,000 additional seats. The new fleet includes RegioPanter and RegioFox trains, which will offer enhanced comfort on regional routes throughout the Czech Republic. These modern trains are air-conditioned, barrier-free, and equipped with Wi-Fi, power sockets, and USB ports for electronic devices.
The fare adjustment will also affect prices for the In Karta card. For those using a plastic card, the cost of some applications will increase by approximately CZK 100 for a one-year validity period and CZK 200 for a three-year validity period from 15 December. Additionally, prices for 1st class monthly tickets, national group weekend tickets, and all-day network tickets will be adjusted. For example, the price of a 1st class monthly ticket will rise from CZK 990 to CZK 1,190.
Travellers can still benefit from lower prices by purchasing tickets early, as dynamic pricing is influenced by factors such as demand and train times. The rule ‘the earlier you buy, the cheaper you travel’ remains in effect.
Furthermore, the free transport of children under the age of 6 and those accompanying people with a ZTP/P card in 1st class will be discontinued. From 15 December 2024, these passengers will need to pay the full fare unless they use one of ČD’s commercial discounts.
ČD advises passengers to check current fares and transport conditions on the ČD website before the new prices and conditions take effect.
