    Prague City Hall Opens Historic Buildings in the City Centre on National Day

    On Monday, 28 October 2024, the traditional Open Day of the Municipality of the Capital City of Prague will take place

    On 28 October 2024, a Czech national holiday, Prague will open its historic buildings to the public. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore rarely accessible places such as the New Town Hall, the Mayor’s Residence, and the Clam-Gallasův palác. A diverse programme of guided tours and events is available for guests of all ages.

    To mark the national holiday, which commemorates the founding of the independent Czechoslovak state, the traditional Open Day will be held on Monday, 28 October 2024. On this day, normally restricted areas of Prague’s historic buildings will be open to the public from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Visitors can tour the New Town Hall (Nová radnice na Mariánském náměstí), the adjacent Mayor’s Residence, the Clam-Gallasův palác, the Škoda Lounges, and the Prague City Library. Some parts of the programme require pre-registration, which will be available starting Monday, 7 October.

    On the ground floor of the New Town Hall and in the Great Assembly Hall on the first floor, an entertainment and educational programme will be prepared for visitors of all ages on National Day, 28 October. The Mayor of Prague will be offering guided tours of the residence, for which advance booking is required. Group tours of the Clam-Gallas Palace, located opposite, will also require advance booking.

    Prague residents and visitors will also have the chance to visit the Škoda Lounges in the Škoda Palace, where free guided tours will take place on the day of the event. The Prague City Library will open for a special occasion, offering guided tours of the Central Library at Mariánské náměstí, which is not usually accessible to the public. In addition, the programme includes guided walks led by Prague City Tourism guides to interesting sites in the Old Town and Lesser Town.

    Guided tours of the Mayor’s Residence, Prague City Hall, Clam-Gallas Palace, and the guided city walks can be booked starting Monday, 7 October.
