Prague Public Transport (DPP) is about to complete the reconstruction of the tram line on Dukelských hrdinů Street. From the night of Friday, 25 October, to Saturday, 26 October 2024, regular service will resume between the Strossmayerovo náměstí and Nádraží Holešovice stops. At the same time, DPP is using the long weekend to carry out repair work on the tram line on the Masaryk embankment. This work will take place from 24 to 28 October 2024 and will lead to an interruption of tram traffic between the National Theatre and Jiráskův náměstí in both directions.
The tram route on Dukelských hrdinů Street has already been successfully tested by a measuring vehicle. A study by the Institute for Planning and Development (IPR) shows that the route in the area of the Veletržní junction up to the triangle at Výstaviště has been slightly shifted. Once the construction work is complete, the three stops in this section will be fully barrier-free.
From Saturday, 26 October 2024, tram line 6 will run on an alternative route. Other lines will also be affected by diversions, and the night bus line X94 will operate on a different route. Passengers should be prepared for the altered timetables and consider alternative connections.
During the extended weekend, DPP will carry out various repairs on the Masaryk embankment, including replacing switches and grinding the tracks. This will lead to an interruption of tram traffic in the section between the National Theatre and Jiráskův náměstí in both directions.
Closure of Underground Line C
In addition to the tram work, DPP is planning maintenance work on metro line C. From Saturday, 26 October, to Monday, 28 October 2024, metro services between Muzeum and Kačerov stations will be suspended in both directions. As a replacement, a bus service will be set up on the XC route to transport passengers during the closure.
These measures are part of the ongoing efforts to modernize and future-proof Prague’s public transport network. Passengers should inform themselves in advance and plan their routes accordingly.
