The 2025 IIHF Women’s Ice Hockey World Championship is set to be held in České Budějovice next April. Representatives of the Czech Ice Hockey Federation and the organisers recently held a press conference to announce details of ticket sales and reveal insights about the tournament plans and its mascot.
‘We are dedicated to making this championship a remarkable experience, not just a sporting event,’ emphasised Petr Bříza, Vice President of Czech Ice Hockey and Senior Vice President of the IIHF. He highlighted the championship’s significance for the region and the hope of attracting new fans and players to ice hockey.
According to Jiří Šindler, Secretary General of the Women’s World Championship, there will be two price categories for tickets. Category I tickets for morning group phase games will cost CZK 150, while category II tickets will be priced at CZK 100. Afternoon matches, including the main events at 19:00, will be sold as a package. Tickets for matches involving the Czech national team will be CZK 450, while those without Czech participation will be CZK 350.
The tournament promises to be a highlight on the international ice hockey calendar. ‘Even the NHL women’s league is suspending its competition for this World Championship so that the best players in the world can participate,’ said Tereza Sadilová, team manager of the Czech women’s national team.
Tickets will go on sale on November 7 at 12 noon. At the same time, fans will have the opportunity to vote for the name of the tournament mascot. The options are ‘Alex’, the protector of women’s hockey; ‘Tori’, symbolising victory; and ‘Ava’, representing speed and movement. The decision on the mascot’s name will be in the hands of the fans, allowing them to add a personal touch to the tournament.
The Women’s Ice Hockey World Championship 2025 will be a major sporting event full of energy, excitement, and top international hockey. Let’s see if the women can emulate the Czech men’s team and delight the country with another gold medal in its number one sport.
