The 18th edition of the festival of German-language films is still ongoing. Following successful screenings in Prague, Brno, and Olomouc, the organisers are offering free online replays of some of the festival’s films from Friday, 15 November, to Sunday, 24 November.
From the comfort of their homes, film fans can watch a selection of ten award-winning feature films and documentaries from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, shown at the festival this year and last. Highlights include the film adaptation of the novel Polednice (The Midday Woman), Persona Non Grata, which exposes sexual abuse in professional sport, the clever comedy Wann wird es endlich wieder, wie es nie war, and the documentary Dancing Pina, a tribute to the legendary choreographer Pina Bausch.
All films can be streamed free of charge in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in their original versions with Czech and English subtitles. The films are available after prior registration on the Goethe-Institut’s VOD platform: dasfilmfest.goethe-on-demand.de. The festival is jointly organised by the Goethe-Institut Czech Republic, the Austrian Cultural Forum Prague, and the Swiss Embassy in the Czech Republic.
This year, the festival took place from 16 to 20 October in Prague, 22 to 26 October in Brno, and 1 to 5 November in Olomouc, attracting around 9,000 viewers. A total of 86 screenings were held across all cities, including special programmes for schools. This year, there was also an extensive accompanying programme open to both film professionals and the general public.
