On Saturday, 30th November, the steam locomotive “Čtyřkolák” will bring nostalgic Christmas cheer to the tracks. Three festive journeys will depart from Praha-Vršovice station, leading passengers through the winter landscape. The St. Nicholas Train, also known as the “Mikulášské jízdy,” is a highlight for both young and old, promising an unforgettable experience.
The morning and evening rides take the train across the historic Negrelli Viaduct and along the picturesque Vltava River valley to Roztoky near Prague. At midday, the route takes passengers on a different path across the newly renovated Braník Bridge, following the Berounka River to Dobřichovice.
Culinary Treats and Christmas Magic Onboard
Onboard, a buffet car offers a seasonal selection of food and drinks to satisfy travelers. There is also a luggage car with space for pushchairs.
At Praha-Vršovice and Roztoky stations, visitors can explore a special exhibition of model railway displays sure to capture the hearts of train fans. Praha-Vršovice station also has a snack stand where passengers can enjoy a tasty treat or warm drink before the train departs.
Tickets and Prices
Tickets for the St. Nicholas Train are available in advance at all České dráhy (ČD) counters or online at the ČD shop. Round-trip ticket prices are as follows:
– Praha-Vršovice – Roztoky near Prague: 390 CZK (return ticket) / 290 CZK (Reduced)
– Praha-Vršovice – Dobřichovice: 390 CZK (return ticket) / 290 CZK (Reduced)
The reduced fare is valid for children aged 6 to 18, as well as for holders of ZTP or ZTP/P disability cards and their companions. Children under 6 travel free, though without an assigned seat.
