The Czech Republic top the Group: With a convincing 2-1 victory over Georgia, the Czech national team secured first place in Group B1 of the Nations League and has been promoted to League A.
The Czech national football team has done it: With a 2-1 victory over Georgia at the Andrův Stadium in Olomouc, Coach Ivan Hašek’s men topped Group B1 of the Nations League and are now set to return to the A-League, the European elite of the competition. Tuesday’s triumph was particularly sweet as the team avenged their bitter 4-1 defeat in the first leg in September.
In the Group B1 match, the Czech Republic secured victory, thanks in part to Pavel Šulc, who opened the scoring in the 3rd minute. Adam Hložek doubled the lead in the 24th minute. Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze managed to pull one back in the 60th minute, but it wasn’t enough.
Ukraine secured second place and a spot in the play-offs with a 2-1 win over Albania. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Roman Jaremchuk gave Ukraine an early lead. Nedim Bajrami converted a penalty for Albania in the 75th minute, but it wasn’t enough to save them from relegation to League C, as they finished bottom of the table.
