‘Tutankhamun – His Tomb and His Treasures’ Exhibition Opens in Prague on 7 December

In addition to the main exhibits, visitors can marvel at items from the National Museum's collection, including an ancient Egyptian sarcophagus over 3,000 years old

Tutankhamun – His Tomb and His Treasures opens on 7 December at the PVA EXPO exhibition centre in Prague. This exhibition brings visitors closer to one of history’s greatest archaeological discoveries: the tomb of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun. It offers the chance to experience the adventure of discovery up close.

With over 1,000 meticulously crafted replicas of the original artefacts, the exhibition conveys an authentic sense of the splendour and value of the young ruler’s legendary golden treasures. The exhibits are arranged exactly as British archaeologist Howard Carter found them in 1922 when he uncovered the tomb. From sacred objects and ornate jewellery to the golden sarcophagi, every detail has been reconstructed with extraordinary precision to recreate the atmosphere of the discovery.

The exhibition also features Tutankhamun’s world-famous golden death mask and his magnificent sarcophagus. Visitors can experience the burial chambers just as Carter described them: “I see amazing things!”

Developed by an international team of scientists, artists, and archaeologists, the exhibition blends replicas with modern technologies. Immersive and augmented reality elements ensure a particularly engaging experience, allowing visitors to virtually explore the tomb and feel the mysteries of ancient Egypt come to life.

“This exhibition is one of the most beautiful in the world. It showcases the unparalleled splendour and exceptional craftsmanship behind each piece of the pharaoh’s treasure,” explains Květa Havelková, spokesperson for the organising JVS Trade Group.

In addition to the main exhibits, the work of Czech archaeologists is honoured in a separate gallery. Visitors can explore original artefacts from the National Museum’s collection, including a 3,000-year-old Egyptian sarcophagus.
