Prague Allocates Almost 43 Million Crowns for Environmental Protection Projects in 2025

Grants can be applied for projects such as community composting, repair workshops, and lending services that promote both environmental sustainability and social cohesion

The Prague City Council approved the launch of a programme to support environmental protection projects for 2025 on Monday. Citizens, associations, and organisations can apply for funding for projects aimed at enhancing public green spaces, educational initiatives, and Prague’s adaptation to climate change.

Nearly 43 million Czech crowns from the capital’s budget will be allocated for the programme. Applications for two-year grants can be submitted from 2nd January to 13th January 2025.

“The strategy for transitioning to a circular economy is a key component of Prague’s Climate Action Plan through to 2030. The focus is on waste reduction and keeping raw materials in circulation. This not only helps conserve resources but also improves life in the city,” explained Jana Komrsková, Deputy Mayor of Prague.

Grants can be applied for projects such as community composting, repair workshops, and lending services that foster both environmental sustainability and social cohesion. Applications can be submitted by both individuals and legal entities, including non-profit organisations and public universities.

The maximum grant amount varies by category. Projects in the areas of public green spaces, circular economy, and environmental education can receive up to 450,000 crowns, climate adaptation projects up to 600,000 crowns, and educational programmes for schools up to 900,000 crowns.

Last year, a total of 246 grant applications were submitted for the environmental protection programme by 139 different applicants, with the capital supporting 145 projects in total, amounting to 42 million Czech crowns.

The submission deadline for applications is from 2nd to 13th January 2025. Further details will soon be available on the praha.eu portal.
