Prague Airport Has Already Handled Over 15 Million Passengers This Year

Prague Airport's current winter flight schedule includes connections to more than 115 destinations

Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Board of Prague Airport, announced yesterday on the social network X that the 15-million-passenger mark was surpassed on the last day of November. For the entire year 2024, Prague Airport expects to handle over 16 million passengers, representing an increase of 17% compared to 2023.

Over the past twelve months, 100 new projects were introduced, including 32 new destinations, 26 new routes, and 42 capacity and frequency increases. These achievements were recognized with the Routes World Award 2024 in the category of airports handling 10–20 million passengers annually, which the Prague Airport aviation business team received in Bahrain this October.

In 2024, a total of 74 airlines will operate flights from Prague Airport to 180 destinations worldwide. The total number of passengers handled matches 100% of the 2019 level, excluding connections to Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.

Prague Airport’s winter flight schedule, effective since October 27, 2024, includes connections to over 115 destinations. New additions for the winter schedule include Edinburgh, Nice, Naples, and Birmingham, as well as new holiday destinations such as Bahrain, Mexico, and Cuba.

A recent IPSOS report indicates that nine out of ten Czechs plan to continue traveling by plane next year. For 80% of respondents, the development of air transport is crucial for the country’s economic growth, highlighting the importance of a modern, efficient airport such as Václav Havel Airport Prague.

Alongside air transport initiatives, significant development projects are underway, including the construction of a new car park, scheduled for completion in 2029, and the expansion of Terminal 2. The airport has also pledged to reduce its CO₂ emissions and achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
