As in previous years, many Lítačka cards will reach the end of their validity in 2025, particularly those issued in 2020. To address this, Operátor ICT (OICT), in cooperation with the City of Prague, has decided to extend the validity of these cards by an additional three years automatically. This means passengers whose cards expire in 2025 can continue using their Lítačka cards for public transport in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region until 2028.
In total, 167,819 Lítačka cards will expire in 2025. These cards, primarily used as monthly or annual public transport passes, will be automatically renewed in the OICT database, ensuring uninterrupted use through to 2028.
“By extending the validity of Lítačka cards for another three years, we aim to meet the needs of passengers in Prague’s transport network, just as we have done in previous years. This saves passengers the hassle of applying for new cards and eliminates the associated costs of issuing them. I also recommend the PID Lítačka mobile application to all public transport users in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region. The app allows users to buy long-term season tickets, purchase single tickets, plan journeys, or even pay for parking in paid zones,” said Daniel Mazur, Prague City Councillor for OICT, Science, Research, and Innovation.
The renewal process is entirely automatic, so passengers don’t need to take any action. “Currently, there are more than 1,180,000 Lítačka cards registered in our OICT system, with approximately 54,000 monthly or annual passes loaded on them. We are confident that affected passengers will appreciate this automatic renewal. Additionally, we will inform passengers whose cards were initially set to expire in 2025 via email or text, based on the contact details provided when they purchased their cards,” said Luboš Kratochvíl, CEO of OICT.
