Members of the public are still contacting the Ministry of Transport and the Czech Trade Inspection Authority with questions and complaints about overpriced motorway vignettes. Increasingly, websites are appearing that sell these vignettes at prices exceeding the government’s regulated rates.
“We recommend that everyone use only the official websites edalnice.cz or edalnice.gov.cz to purchase vignettes. They can also be bought without additional fees at Czech Post branches and EuroOil and RobinOil petrol stations,” said Transport Minister Martin Kupka in a press release from the Ministry of Transport.
At the Ministry’s request, the Czech Trade Inspection Office is investigating the sale of electronic vignettes through unofficial outlets. The key concern is the accuracy and completeness of the information provided about vignette prices and related services.
“It is ultimately up to the buyer whether to purchase an electronic vignette at the official government price or pay more through other sellers. However, buyers should always be informed of the vignette’s price, the cost of any additional services, and the conditions under which these are offered,” stated Jan Štěpánek, Director of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority.
The price of the vignette is set by a state regulation: An annual vignette costs CZK 2,300, a 30-day vignette CZK 430, a 10-day vignette CZK 270 and a one-day vignette CZK 200.
Starting 1 January 2025, the annual fee for motorway use will increase to CZK 2,440. The 30-day vignette will cost CZK 460, the 10-day vignette CZK 290, and the daily vignette CZK 210. All types can be purchased up to 30 days in advance on www.edalnice.cz or edalnice.gov.cz.
