New Dental Emergency Clinic Opens at Na Františku Hospital

During the holiday period, from 21 December 2024 to 1 January 2025, the new emergency outpatient clinic at Na Františku Hospital will be open daily, including weekdays, from 10:00 to 22:00

A new dental emergency clinic opened on Wednesday at Na Františku Hospital in Prague. The new outpatient clinic will enhance the availability of urgent dental care for Prague residents, especially for children.

“When we opened the first dental emergency department at Na Františku Hospital a year ago, we said that this was just the beginning. I always strive to keep my promises, so I am delighted that, after a year, we have been able to open a second dental clinic thanks to the excellent cooperation with the hospital management and the Municipality of Prague 1. The need for this emergency service is clearly demonstrated by the first clinic, which has already treated 6,530 patients, including 738 children, since its opening. On average, more than 500 patients are treated each month,” said Alexandra Udženija, Deputy Mayor for Social Affairs and Health in Prague.

The opening hours of the new outpatient clinic will mirror those of the existing one: from 17:00 to 22:00 on weekdays, and from 10:00 to 22:00 on weekends and public holidays. During the public holidays from 21 December 2024 to 1 January 2025, it will be open daily, including weekdays, from 10:00 to 22:00. The new clinic will double the capacity of the emergency department, allowing for more patients to be treated and reducing waiting times.

“Since the opening of the first dental emergency department in October last year, we have seen a huge demand from the public. Our emergency department is used not only by Prague residents but also by patients from other parts of the country,” said David Erhart, Director of the hospital.

The construction of the second clinic and its operational launch cost around CZK 2 million. The City of Prague contributed CZK 1.8 million to equip the facility, while the Municipality of Prague 1, the hospital’s founder, provided CZK 375,000 for technical improvements to the premises.

The new outpatient clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a modern treatment chair with a monitor, an intraoral X-ray machine with sensors, and a panoramic X-ray machine that the hospital has already purchased.

The laws of expediency often seem to work against you—especially when a toothache strikes exactly when all other clinics close for the holidays. Fortunately, the outpatient clinic at Na Františku Hospital will be available for emergencies over the holiday period.
