Three Kings Parade: Prague Celebrates the End of the Christmas Season
The procession traditionally begins with a church service, during which sweets are distributed, and fundraisers receive a blessing
On Friday, a festive procession featuring the Three Kings on camels will parade through the centre of Prague. This traditional event marks the conclusion of the Christmas season and supports Caritas’ Tříkrál collection.
On Friday, 3 January 2025, a grand procession led by the Three Kings on camels will traverse Prague’s historic centre. Both residents and visitors are warmly invited to this cultural tradition, which symbolically closes the Christmas season.
The parade not only celebrates the Feast of the Three Kings but also expresses gratitude to all participants in the Tříkrál collection, a fundraising campaign organised by the Archdiocesan Caritas from 1 to 14 January 2025, to aid those in need.
The event begins with a church service at 15:00 in St. Thomas’ Church in Lesser Town, where Archbishop of Prague Jan Graubner will bless the fundraisers. During the service, sweets will also be distributed.
The procession, commemorating the journey of the Three Wise Men to Bethlehem, starts at 15:30. The kings on camels will set off from Malostranské náměstí and pass through the heart of Prague, crossing Charles Bridge and Mariánské náměstí before arriving at the Old Town Square. The parade culminates with the Three Kings symbolically presenting gifts to the baby Jesus on a stage.
Programme of the Parade on 3 January 2025:
- 15:00 – Blessing at St. Thomas’ Church
- 15:30 – Start of the Three Kings Parade with Camels
- 16:45 – Tříkrál Concert at the Old Town Square
