Revitalising Tourism: Jeseníky Region Lures Visitors with Attractive Discounts

The programme to promote tourism in areas affected by the flood disaster is now accepting applications

As of yesterday, accommodation vouchers are available for visits to the Jeseníky region. Those interested can apply for one via the Jeseníky Tourist Board’s website. A family of four can save up to CZK 8,400 on a one-week stay. The vouchers can be redeemed immediately. The programme aims to revitalise tourism in the region most affected by last year’s floods.

With the accommodation voucher, visitors can receive a discount of CZK 300 per person per night for a minimum stay of two nights and a maximum of seven nights in selected accommodation in the Moravian-Silesian and Olomouc regions. A single person can save CZK 2,100 on a one-week stay, while a family of four can save up to CZK 8,400. The vouchers are valid from 2 January until the end of May 2025.

Tourists can use the vouchers at 295 different accommodation facilities in the Jeseníky Region, with 232 of these located in the Olomouc Region and 63 in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Stays can be booked directly with participating accommodation providers or through a travel agency, which can assist with selecting and booking the stay.

“The Jeseníky Mountains offer a wide range of activities for everyone—from the youngest to the oldest. There are kilometres of ski slopes and cross-country ski trails, beautiful hiking paths, and countless spas with healing springs. If anyone is deciding where to go this winter with their family or partner, I would recommend the Krkonošé Mountains. By visiting, you’ll be supporting areas in need of help right now,” said Petr Kulhánek, Minister for Regional Development.

Applications can be submitted from 2 January 2025 via the voucher.jeseniky.cz portal, managed by the Jeseníky Tourist Board. The total programme budget is CZK 20 million. Half of this amount has been allocated by the Ministry of Regional Development to support the Jeseníky region, with the Olomouc and Moravian-Silesian regions each contributing CZK 5 million.

“Only a few hours after the programme launched, over CZK 5 million of the allocated funds had been claimed. This is a fantastic result and an example of the solidarity of the Czech people. So, if you’re considering purchasing a voucher, don’t wait,” added Petr Kulhánek.

The programme to support tourism in the affected areas builds on the post-flood reconstruction strategy adopted by the government on 18 December 2024. The strategy includes a comprehensive system of support for the affected areas, summarised under the name ‘Živel.’

The Czech tourism agency CzechTourism is also supporting the revitalisation of tourism in the flood-affected areas, including the Jeseníky region. It works closely with the affected regions and regularly publishes up-to-date information on its website, the Kudy z nudy travel portal, and on social media.
