Sparta Prague seemed to have been eliminated from the race for a place in the semi-finals when they were trailing 6-4 in the quarter-final against Växjö Lakers, with only minutes remaining. However, a monumental comeback brought Sparta back into the game: two goals in the final minutes of regulation time equalised the score, and the decisive goal in overtime got Sparta Prague into the semi-finals. Sparta Prague previously reached the CHL final in 2017, and this time, the team will once again give their all to represent the country of the world champions with honour.
Färjestad Karlstad dominated the regular season with ease. Although they struggled in their first quarter-final match against Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, they left no doubt about their class afterward, securing a brilliant 6-0 home win in front of enthusiastic fans to advance to the semi-finals. This top Swedish team, having lost only one game all season, is an opponent not to be underestimated!
The first semi-final between Sparta Prague and Färjestad Karlstad will take place in Prague on Tuesday, 14 January, at 18:00 (CET). One week later, Sparta will play the second leg in Sweden on Tuesday, 21 January, at 19:00 (CET).
