Prague Airport: 16.4 Million Passengers and an 18% Increase in 2024

In 2025, the airport expects over 18.4 million passengers, setting a new record

In 2024, Václav Havel Airport in Prague processed a total of 16,353,522 passengers, with 134,609 take-offs and landings. The number of passengers increased by 18% compared to the previous year. In the past year, Prague Airport, in collaboration with airlines, launched 41 new routes and offered direct connections to 181 destinations in total.

“The passenger count for 2024 is the third-highest in history and very positive news, particularly for the Czech economy. What’s especially pleasing is that planes flew with high occupancy—on average over 83%. Larger and better-filled planes mean a lower burden on our surroundings and the environment as a whole,” explains Jiří Pos, CEO of Prague Airport, and adds: “In 2025, we expect to set a historic record with 18.4 million passengers.”

Notable highlights include the resumption of long-haul flights to Beijing by Hainan Airlines, as well as the introduction of a new route to Cairo with Egypt Air—marking the first time since 2011 when Czech Airlines discontinued the connection.

Last year, passengers most frequently used the direct route between Prague and London. Nearly 1.4 million passengers travelled this route, an increase of 26% compared to the previous year. Other popular routes included:

    • Paris (719,000 passengers, a 4% increase)
    • Amsterdam (651,000 passengers, a 21% increase)
    • Milan (606,000 passengers, an 11% increase)
    • Rome (536,000 passengers, a 37% increase)

From a country perspective, the busiest routes were to the United Kingdom (2.1 million passengers, a 29% increase), Italy (1.9 million passengers, a 22% increase), and Spain (1.6 million passengers, a 38% increase). A total of 76 airlines operated at Prague Airport last year. The airlines that carried the most passengers were Smartwings, Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air, and Lufthansa.

New Routes and Airlines in 2025

This year, new long-haul destinations will be added from Prague, including Abu Dhabi (Etihad Airways) and Toronto (Air Canada). Additionally, more new airlines will join the network—South Korea’s Asiana Airlines will offer regular flights to Seoul, and the German airline Condor will operate regular flights to Frankfurt. The total number of destinations served is expected to rise to over 190, with around 80 airlines providing services.

On Prague Airport’s website, passengers can find a detailed overview of available connections, including a list of airlines offering flights to specific destinations. From this overview, interested individuals can follow a link to the airline’s website, where they can access current flight schedules and book tickets. Additionally, selected destinations are accompanied by interesting local information for travellers.
