Prague Supports Families: CZK 43 Million for Social Projects in 2025

Funding to Support Disadvantaged Families and Children

This year, the capital city of Prague is once again providing funding to support activities in the area of family services aimed at improving the quality of life for families. At the same time, the roles of biological and substitute families will be promoted and strengthened. A total of approximately CZK 43,000,000 has been earmarked for this purpose in 2025.

The projects for which grants are allocated must align with one of the five required thematic measures. Specifically, the programme includes support for functioning families, both biological and surrogate families, through preventive measures. Additionally, the programme aims to promote substitute family care, support disadvantaged families and children, and expand volunteer work. Another key objective is to support informal carers and develop a network of social activation services for families with children, which are supported by the municipalities.

“Supporting families, whether biological or in foster care, is my long-term priority. This programme provides Prague with additional tools to offer effective and targeted help. These include the promotion of mother, family, and community centres, psychological support, educational activities, and therapeutic work with families,” says Alexandra Udženija, Deputy Mayor of Prague and responsible for the city’s social policy.

The Prague City Council has approved grants for individual applicants of up to CZK 1,000,000, with a total value of CZK 18,644,000. Additionally, grants exceeding CZK 1,000,000 have been approved for individual applicants, totalling CZK 21,593,000. Grants totalling CZK 2,022,000 have also been awarded to the capital’s districts and the organisations founded by them.

In total, the capital will provide financial support of around CZK 43,000,000 for the year 2025 as part of the support programmes for families. This amount is based on the evaluation of submitted and approved applications.
