Metro Florenc: Exit Towards Central Bus Station reopened

The Prague Transport Company plans to fully commission the vestibule and subway by the end of 2026

Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) has opened a new exit at the Florenc metro station. This will improve access to the Florenc Central Bus Station and other transport connections and facilities in the area. The complete modernisation of the vestibule and subway is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

On Friday, the Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) reopened the second exit from the Florenc C metro platform to the vestibule, leading towards the bus station and the E6 street exit. This makes it easier to transfer from the metro to the Florenc Central Bus Station, the relocated bus stop heading towards Žižkov, the Karlín Music Theatre on Křižíkova Street, and facilities on Na Florenci Street, and vice versa.

Since March 2022, the transport company has been carrying out a comprehensive renovation of the ceiling slab and vestibule in the Florenc C metro station and the adjacent subway. The exit from the platform at Florenc C station had been closed since 6 June 2022 due to construction work. After 970 days—almost two years and eight months—it was partially reopened to passengers on 31 January 2025.

“Although the second exit of the Florenc C metro station is only partially accessible, we worked with the construction company to open this section as quickly as possible. This was made possible by the progress of the construction work: two-thirds of the original prestressed beams and half of the ceiling panels have already been replaced. At the same time, this part of the vestibule was renovated, and new lighting was installed that adjusts its colour temperature biodynamically depending on the time of day and season“, explains Daniel Veverka, project manager at the transport company.

By the end of next year, the second half of the ceiling panels and the remaining third of the beams will be replaced, the modernisation of the vestibule and subway including the business units will be completed, escalators will be installed for the exit and finally the Synapse artwork by Jan Poš will be installed. The aim is to put the completely modernised vestibule into operation at the end of 2026.

The newly opened exit is equipped with a newly designed canopy, which was first installed above the exits of the Náměstí Republiky station at Masaryk Railway Station. This design has since established itself as the new urban standard for the renovation of other metro stations.
