The completion of the Březiněves–Satalice section has received approval for the environmental impact assessment (EIA) in both submitted variants. This marks a significant step forward in the preparation of the north-eastern segment of the ring road.
“The approval of the environmental impact assessment for the Březiněves–Satalice section is a major milestone. Once a decision is made between the tunnel and underground variants, the Regional Transport Directorate can select a contractor for the project documentation required for the joint construction permit and proceed with the geological survey. Construction of the urgently needed 13.6 km bypass could begin within three years,” said Transport Minister Martin Kupka.
The EIA decision confirms that the project complies with all environmental protection requirements and minimizes negative impacts on the surrounding areas. Completing this section will significantly improve Prague’s traffic flow, reduce congestion in the city centre, and enhance road safety.

The D0 520 Březiněves–Satalice construction project is part of the Prague Ring Road, one of the busiest motorways in the Czech Republic. The 13.6 km route is planned in both a lowered and a tunnel variant. It will connect the D8 and D10 motorways, replacing the current transit route through built-up urban areas along Kbelská Street and Vysočanská Radiale.
Traffic congestion in this area is already severe, significantly slowing down travel. The completion of this bypass is therefore critical, as it will shorten travel distances and journey times between North Bohemia and East Bohemia, as well as between the D1 and D8 motorways.
The estimated construction costs range from CZK 17 billion to CZK 38 billion, depending on the selected variant. Construction is expected to begin within the next three years, with the route scheduled to open by 2031 at the latest.

Meanwhile, work on a 12.6 km section of the Prague Ring Road between Běchovice and the D1 motorway began in December last year and is set for completion by 2027.
The Prague Ring Road is divided into 11 sections, with 40 km (7 sections) already in operation and a further 12.6 km currently under construction. Once fully completed, the 83 km ring road will connect nine motorways and two class I roads, improving connections between Prague and neighbouring regions and countries.
