Love is in the air—even at Prague Zoo! Valentine’s Day weekend is dedicated to the romantic, but also surprising, aspects of the animal kingdom. With special feedings and demonstrations, visitors can enjoy an exciting programme full of fascinating insights.
Courtship, cohabitation, reproduction—but also harems, jealousy, or, on the contrary, lifelong fidelity. Prague Zoo has prepared a special programme of feedings and demonstrations for Valentine’s Day weekend, offering visitors remarkable facts about ‘love’ in the animal world.
Throughout the weekend, guests will have the chance to discover nearly twenty of the zoo’s species. Particularly intriguing are the Humboldt penguins, whose partnerships could rival a soap opera. Their commentated feedings on Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. are among the weekend’s highlights.
A full list of Valentine’s Day weekend activities is available in the Prague Zoo mobile app, which has been free to download for Android and iOS devices since autumn. The app allows users to set up notifications for selected feedings and features an interactive map showing the quickest route to each enclosure. Zoo tickets can also be purchased via the app at a discounted online price.
Prague Zoo is also celebrating World Pangolin Day on Saturday. The world’s most illegally traded mammal is on the brink of extinction in sub-Saharan Africa as well as in South and Southeast Asia. Prague Zoo remains the only European zoo to have successfully bred a young pangolin—the now-famous Šiška. Last year, this success continued with the birth of her sister, Connie. In addition to the puffin feeding, Saturday’s programme includes interactive stations where visitors of all ages can learn about these fascinating animals through play and discover how they can help protect them.
