From 24th February to 2nd March 2025, Prague will once again become the centre of Japanese culture. The 18th edition of the Eigasai Festival, held at the Lucerna Cinema, invites you to explore the diversity of Japanese cinema and its traditions. Under the theme The World of Men / The World of Women, you can experience unique film screenings.
At the Lucerna Cinema, known for its distinctive atmosphere, nine films will take you into the world of ambitious men and social outsiders. Women play the role of a lifeline, motivating the men and awakening their protective instincts. All films will be shown in their original Japanese language with Czech and English subtitles, ensuring an authentic experience.
However, the Eigasai Festival offers much more than just film screenings. On Saturday, 1st March, the Japanese Cultural Day will take place at the Lucerna Gallery. Here, you can participate in creative workshops, enjoy Japanese snacks, experience musical performances, and marvel at the traditional Kyōgen theatre, which delights with its comedic charm. Additionally, an exciting drumming performance by Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko will transport you into the world of Japanese rhythms.
The entire festival presents a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a different culture for a moment and be enchanted by its beauty, traditions, and modern stories.
