Around a month before one of the country’s largest volunteer campaigns, ‘Ukliďme Česko’, the organisers report that over 2,000 clean-up events have already been registered. Tens of thousands of volunteers will once again be cleaning up forests, towns, roads, protected areas, and rivers, where unprecedented amounts of rubbish were left behind after last year’s floods.
On Saturday, 29 March, the 12th edition of the largest volunteer clean-up campaign, ‘Ukliďme Česko’ (‘Let’s Clean Up the Czech Republic’), will take place. The aim is to clear illegal rubbish dumps and minor littering in nature, towns, and villages.
One of the larger events will take place in the week before the main clean-up day. ‘On 19 and 20 March 2025, volunteers will clean the Vltava arm of the Orlík Reservoir from the Podolský Bridge upstream to the Kořensko Dam. After last year’s floods, there is a lot of debris on the banks, so there will be plenty of work – both for the volunteers on land and for the workers on the boats. If you are interested in helping, please get in touch with us,’ says the organiser of the campaign.

Those interested in organising a clean-up event can register on the website www.UklidmeCesko.cz until 9 March and apply for clean-up materials (rubbish bags, gloves) and stickers for participants.
KAMsNIM.cz – an app for waste prevention
The organisers of ‘Ukliďme Česko’ are not only focusing on waste removal but are increasingly emphasising waste prevention. This is supported by the KAMsNIM.cz app, which provides tips on where to dispose of unwanted items and waste while also integrating locations and systems for waste prevention.
However, the event is not just about removing rubbish. Most clean-up events include a social element or an accompanying programme. In addition, every volunteer can take part in a photo competition with exciting prizes to be won.
You can join the big spring clean-up – either as an organiser or a volunteer – practically anywhere in the Czech Republic. And if, for some reason, you can’t take part, you can still support the organisers financially to help make this volunteer effort a success.
‘The rubbish in our forests, towns, and villages won’t disappear on its own. So a big thank you to everyone who helps!’ say the organisers of ‘Ukliďme Česko’, encouraging as many people as possible to take part.
