With the arrival of spring, Prague’s annual large-scale street cleaning programme is set to begin. The Technical Administration of Roadways of the Capital City of Prague (TSK) will commence street cleaning on 2 April 2025, aiming to remove grit and other debris from road surfaces.
This annual cleaning campaign involves a thorough cleansing of pavements and carriageways in designated areas. The TSK places particular emphasis on ensuring that the entire road area is comprehensively cleaned, including grass verges. The objective is to remove road salt residues, dust, and other dirt that has accumulated over the winter months.
The campaign forms part of the city’s comprehensive road maintenance programme and takes place twice a year. The second cleaning phase begins at the end of the summer holidays and continues until November.
Detailed information on dates and affected areas can be found on the TSK website via the new ‘Summer Road and Pavement Cleaning’ map application.
As in previous years, motorists should anticipate temporary traffic restrictions during the cleaning programme. One week before cleaning begins, mobile traffic signs displaying ‘No Stopping’ will inform residents in advance. An additional board will specify the reason for the restriction and the exact cleaning period, which runs from 08:00 to 15:00. In some areas, mobile signs reading ‘Zone with Traffic Restriction’ and ‘End of Zone with Traffic Restriction’ will replace multiple individual prohibition signs.
Drivers are reminded to observe the traffic signs and move their vehicles in good time. Failure to do so may result in their vehicle being towed away.
