    Czech Foreign Trade and Industrial Production See Slight Increase in February Compared to the Previous Month

    Stability in Foreign Trade and a Small Rise in Industrial Production

    Czech industrial production increased by 1.7% in February 2025 compared to the previous month and was 1.5% higher year-on-year. Foreign trade saw a slight increase of 0.3% compared to the previous month. These figures are based on the latest data from the Czech Statistical Office, which was released today.

    “The growth in industrial production in February was particularly influenced by a low base for comparison in the previous year, particularly concerning the production and distribution of electricity and gas, which was affected by climatic conditions. Production in the manufacturing sector remained stable compared to the previous year,” said Radek Matějka, Director of the Department of Statistics for Agriculture, Forestry, Industry, Construction, and Energy at the Czech Statistical Office.

    Several sectors made positive contributions to the growth, including the food industry, mechanical engineering, and the manufacture of electrical devices. Declines were observed in the production of computers, as well as electronic and optical devices.

    The value of new orders fell by 1.3% year-on-year in February 2025. New orders from abroad decreased by 0.3%, while domestic orders dropped by 3.1%. On a monthly basis, the value of new orders increased by 3.0%.

    The average number of employees in industry decreased by 2.0% year-on-year in February 2025.

    According to the preliminary foreign trade balance, the Czech Republic recorded a surplus of CZK 35.5 billion in February, a decrease of CZK 0.5 billion compared to the previous year. Seasonally adjusted, exports increased by 0.3% compared to the previous month, while imports decreased by 0.8%.
