A touch of New York in the heart of Prague: on Thursday, Holešovická tržnice invites you to the popular Pastrami Pop-Up. Visitors can expect a day filled with flavour, culture, and urban street food flair.
On Thursday, 24 April, Holešovická tržnice will transform into a culinary hub of New York street food: at the traditional Pastrami Pop-Up, around a dozen vendors will create a lively atmosphere with the famous pastrami sandwiches in all their variations taking centre stage. But a true street food experience doesn’t end with the food – visitors can also look forward to an accompanying cultural programme. The event starts at 11:00 and runs until 22:00. Entry is free of charge.

More than just a food festival
‘For us, Pastrami Pop-Up is not just a food festival, but a meeting place for a community that combines a passion for good food, creativity, and craftsmanship,’ says Aleš Víšek from the programme department of Holešovická tržnice and initiator of the pop-up concept. ‘Alongside our tried-and-tested regulars, new faces apply every year – and it’s the mix that makes it so appealing. Perhaps it is precisely this relaxed atmosphere that attracts so many people time and time again.’
In addition to culinary delights, visitors can also expect a varied programme of music, visual arts, and cultural performances. The event will feature music from DJ Teejay Ivo and DJ Gadjo.

What is pastrami?
The pastrami sandwich is made from beef that is marinated for several days in brine and a secret blend of spices, then smoked, cooked, and sliced wafer-thin. It is traditionally served with bread, pickles, and mustard – sometimes also with sauerkraut. Incidentally, the name ‘pastrami’ comes from Romanian (‘a păstra’ = ‘to pickle’) and refers to the long tradition of this method of preparation.
The Pastrami Pop-Up in Holešovice will be a culinary highlight – a must for anyone who loves good food, street food culture, and a lively atmosphere.
