Prague Airport looks back on a positive year in 2024, returning to pre-pandemic levels thanks to an increase in passenger numbers and an improvement in operating profit. A new record in passenger numbers is expected for the current year.
Prague Airport achieved an operating profit (EBITDA) of CZK 4.3 billion in 2024. Compared to the previous year, the total operating result increased by CZK 1.2 billion. The net profit for 2024 stands at CZK 2.5 billion.
‘We are continuing the positive trend and returning to pre-pandemic profitability. This confirms that we have already made up for the shortfalls in CSA operations and flights from Russia and Ukraine. Among other things, we are now better prepared to gradually finance the modernisation of the airport,’ says Jiří Pos, CEO of Prague Airport, adding: ‘We handled nearly 16.4 million passengers in 2024, exceeding the forecasts from the beginning of last year.’
In close cooperation with the airlines, the airport launched a total of forty new routes in 2024 and increased the frequency of 66 additional connections. Revenue from air traffic reached CZK 6.4 billion. Non-aeronautical revenue accounted for a further CZK 3 billion. For example, the company renovated 14 catering units, thereby enhancing the customer experience with new concepts not previously represented at the airport. The airport also introduced new parking services, including the Comfort Valet Service: passengers hand over their car directly at the airport to a professional driver who takes care of safe parking.
In 2024, the airport continued to invest in modernisation: this included the redesign of selected passenger boarding bridges, the renovation of the administration building in Terminal 1, the project to widen the access road at the Aviatická/K Letišti intersection, and the installation of a new parking system. In total, projects worth CZK 1.6 billion were realised last year.
This year, Prague Airport is aiming for a new record with over 18 million passengers handled.
