The exhibition Where Nature Rules at the Theresian Wing of the Old Royal Palace at Prague Castle invites visitors to experience the breathtaking beauty of nature through the lens of Czech and Slovak photographers.
At the Theresian Wing (Tereziánské křídlo) of the Old Royal Palace at Prague Castle, unique nature photographs from around the world can be seen under the exhibition title Where Nature Rules (Kde příroda vládne) until 17th August 2025. These stunning images were captured by photographers from the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
A total of 231 participants submitted nearly 2,000 photographs for this year’s ninth edition of the Czech Nature Photo competition. The awarded and selected photographs showcase the fascinating beauty of animals, plants, and landscapes while also highlighting the importance of conservation at a time when nature is increasingly threatened. In addition to the images from the current competition, the best photographs from previous years are also on display.
“The aim of the competition is to raise public awareness about the protection of nature – with the message: people can only protect what they know. We hope the exhibition will be well received. We are especially excited about the Czech Photo Junior competition, which demonstrates that young people are truly interested in nature and have a talent for capturing unusual and original perspectives,” said Veronika Souralová, Director of Czech Photo.

The competition was divided into six main categories: Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, Amphibians, and Underwater Life, Invertebrates, Plants and Fungi, and Landscapes. Under the patronage of Prague Zoo, the category Animals in Their Habitat was also introduced. Additionally, images could be submitted in special categories: Series, Animals in Human Care, and Best Photograph of Czech Nature. A new category this year was Urban Wildlife, which also included an award for the best photograph taken in Prague. The competition’s photographs were selected by a prestigious international jury, comprising both photographers and natural scientists.
