Prague Zoo Celebrates 20 Years of the “Vodní svět” and Monkey Islands

Visitors can look forward to a varied day of animal encounters and guided feedings on Saturday

Prague Zoo is marking a special anniversary: 20 years since the opening of the “Vodní svět” (Water World) and the Monkey Islands. On Saturday, visitors are invited to enjoy a full day of animal encounters and guided feedings.

On Saturday 16 August, the zoo will host a special celebration. Twenty years after the opening of the “Vodní svět” and Monkey Islands, guests can enjoy a diverse programme featuring guided feedings and close-up encounters with the animals.

Opened in 2005, the complex combines water features with grassy islands, linked by traditional paths and several wooden walkways. Situated in the lower half of the zoo, the area is home both to animals that live in or near water and to species for which the water moats act as natural barriers. As a result, not only water-loving animals such as tapirs, swamp antelopes, flamingos and pelicans have settled here, but also various primates that have made the islands behind the moats their home.
