Construction Work at Smíchov Station Progressing as Planned

The modernisation of Smíchov Station in Prague is progressing as planned. Since the works began two years ago, tracks have been renewed, bridges replaced, and new infrastructure such as a bus station and pedestrian bridges constructed.

The modernisation of Smíchov Station is proceeding on schedule. The initial works began two years ago and involved the removal of tracks in one part of the station, as well as the dismantling of the pedestrian bridge over the track area. Last year, the main construction work on the new Smíchov Station commenced in full.

The primary phase of work at Smíchov Station began with the commissioning of the platform adjacent to the station building. Following this, construction workers removed the entire third platform and part of the second platform, including their canopies. Foundations for a new pedestrian bridge and a technical building are now being built in place of the station building’s northern wing.

Upon completion, Smíchov Station will become one of the most important transport hubs in Prague. It will include a station for local and long-distance trains, a metro station, tram stops, and city and suburban bus lines. The complex will also provide new facilities for long-distance coaches, a Park & Ride (P+R) car park, and a Bike & Ride (B+R) cycle parking area.
