Prague’s Nové Město to Welcome a New InterContinental Luxury Hotel

The new InterContinental Prague will form part of a portfolio managed by Generali Real Estate

InterContinental’s luxury brand is making its return to Prague: IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement for a new hotel in Nové Město. The five-star property is due to open in 2029, adding a prestigious new address to the capital’s hotel landscape.

According to IHG Hotels & Resorts, the contract for the future InterContinental Prague has now been finalised. With 137 rooms, the hotel is expected to open in the first half of 2029, joining the company’s two existing hotels in the city: Holiday Inn Prague Congress Centre and Holiday Inn Prague Airport.

The future location is Jeruzalémská 8 in Prague’s New Town (Nové Město). The historic building dates back to 1839 and has served various functions over the decades – from a ballroom and theatre to office space. Under the management of Generali Real Estate, it is now set to undergo a comprehensive renovation and be transformed into a modern luxury hotel.

Plans include a spacious spa with wellness area and pool, a restaurant, a bar and the brand’s signature Club InterContinental Lounge. A particular highlight will be a private garden designed to offer both guests and locals a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city. For business travellers, conference facilities will be available, and the hotel’s proximity to numerous corporate offices in the city centre further enhances its appeal for the business sector.

The InterContinental brand is currently undergoing extensive modernisation and is being repositioned within IHG Hotels & Resorts to reflect contemporary expectations. Across Europe, the group already operates 34 InterContinental hotels; the new Prague property will join a growing portfolio across Central and Eastern Europe.

InterContinental has previously been present in Prague: in the 1970s, the brand opened the city’s first international five-star hotel in the Old Town – the building now operates as the Fairmont Golden Prague.
