From December 2026, RegioJet will introduce new, modern trains on the Prague–Brno and Prague–Jihlava routes. After roughly six years, the capital of the Vysočina Region will once again have a direct connection to Prague. The new trains will offer greater comfort, shorter journey times, and accessible travel.
On the R9 rail line between Prague and Brno via Vysočina, new modern trains from the private operator RegioJet will enter service from December 2026. For the Prague–Brno and Prague–Jihlava services, the company is currently having a total of 18 new train sets built by the Polish manufacturer PESA.
Thanks to upgraded lines and the new train sets, the Prague–Brno and Prague–Jihlava services will be offered more frequently and with shorter journey times. From Prague, the new trains will run hourly to Havlíčkův Brod. From there, they will continue every two hours either to Brno or Jihlava. This will give the capital of the Vysočina Region a direct rail connection to Prague once again after around six years.

Seven of the 18 new train sets will have three carriages, eleven will have four, with a capacity of around 200 and 300 passengers respectively. Twelve per cent of the seats are allocated to first class.
The new trains are fully low-floor and equipped with air conditioning, Wi‑Fi, power outlets, and USB ports. They also feature a modern passenger information system and the option to purchase light snacks. Adequate space for bicycles, pushchairs, and wheelchairs is provided, along with modern vacuum toilets. The trains are designed for a top speed of up to 200 km/h and can later be deployed on new high-speed lines.

“For passengers, this is an enormous step forward in terms of comfort and quality on the route between Prague and Brno via Vysočina. Our aim is to provide a fast and convenient service with a high level of travel comfort,” says RegioJet owner Radim Jančura.
With the new trains, RegioJet is taking another step towards faster, more comfortable, and accessible rail travel between Prague, Brno, and Jihlava. Already in September last year, the company signed a contract with the Škoda Group for 34 new hybrid trains, which are expected to enter service in North-East Bohemia from 2029.
