EURO magazine: Daniel Křetínský is the richest Czech

The current ranking of the richest Czechs has a new leader. Czech billionaire Daniel Křetínský has taken first place this year, displacing Renata Kellnerová, who previously topped the list.

Daniel Křetínský now heads this year’s ranking of the richest Czechs, as published by Euro magazine. His wealth surged by an impressive CZK 173 billion last year, reaching CZK 390 billion. This increase allowed him to overtake Renata Kellnerová, who was previously at the top. In third place is Patrik Tkáč, with an estimated fortune of CZK 260 billion.

Křetínský’s wealth is largely concentrated in his stake in EP Group, which includes the Energy and Industry Holding (EPH). This conglomerate encompasses more than 70 companies across Europe. Křetínský also owns the Czech football club AC Sparta Praha.

Renata Kellnerová inherited the PPF investment group following the death of her husband, Petr Kellner, and was formerly recognized as the richest Czech woman. The third richest Czech, Patrik Tkáč, benefited from the growth of Křetínský’s EP Group, which contributed to his wealth increasing by CZK 95 billion.

In fourth place is Karel Komárek, founder of the KKCG investment group, with assets totaling CZK 170 billion. Pavel Tykač, owner of the energy group Sev.en, saw his assets rise by CZK 37 billion to CZK 145 billion, placing him in fifth. Conversely, Radovan Vítek of the CPI Property Group experienced a decrease in his assets by CZK 22 billion, bringing his total to CZK 132 billion and putting him in sixth place.

Former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, now in seventh place, experienced a decline in his wealth. This drop is attributed to challenges in the sectors served by his holding company, Agrofert, including chemicals, food processing, and agriculture.

The ranking of the fifty richest Czechs and Slovaks has been published annually by the weekly magazine Euro since 2014.
