    Prague Art Week 2024

From Thursday, September 5, to Sunday, September 8, 2024, thirty art institutions in Prague will host the third edition of Prague Art Week. This year, the city’s top art galleries and museums will once again open their doors to the public. All events in the program are free to attend, with specific times and dates indicated.

The festival will kick off on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art with the opening ceremony. The exhibition Melancholy of the Outer Limits by Josef Bolf, one of the most renowned Czech painters, will also debut here. The extensive festival program offers four days of diverse contemporary art.

The festival will also take visitors to unconventional venues. For the first time since its extensive reconstruction, the Savarin Palace will be open to the public and will feature art displays on September 7 and 8. Additionally, art will return to the former bank building on Jerusalemer Straße, where a large vernissage with several exhibitors will be held on Friday, September 6, at 17:00.

    Program Highlights

Prague Art Week 2024 will feature over a hundred different events, including intimate painting exhibitions, sculptural installations in public spaces, live performances, and an accompanying program with lectures and debates at the Superstudio, along with workshops for children.

Leading Prague museums and art galleries will showcase their collections, highlighting the local art scene. The festival will also welcome international artists. The program includes renowned names like John Rafman and Antony Gormley, as well as works by Lucia Moholy, Franz Kafka, Damien Hirst, and Fernand Léger, sure to inspire both local and international visitors.

The accompanying program, subtitled EDUcare, will focus on creative education and will take place at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, which has been instrumental in this field. Additional programs will be held at the National Gallery Prague, the Great Hall of the Trade Fair Palace, and other venues of the Prague Biennale of Contemporary Art. This year’s biennial will explore the relationship between rural and urban environments and the significance of human labor within them.

The festival also includes VIP events and guided tours, offering the public a chance to explore the diverse Prague art scene.
