airBaltic Launches New Direct Flight Route Prague – Vilnius from March 2025

Starting March 30, 2025, airBaltic will introduce a direct connection to Vilnius, the capital and largest city of Lithuania, offering flights twice a week. The route will be operated using an Airbus A220-300 and will complement the existing service from Václav Havel Airport Prague to the southernmost Baltic country.

The last time Václav Havel Airport Prague had a direct connection to Vilnius was a decade ago. “We are very pleased with the continued growth of airBaltic in Prague. It’s exciting to offer a direct route to the Lithuanian capital once again after so many years. In addition to Riga in Latvia, Vilnius is now the second Baltic destination that airBaltic serves from Prague. We anticipate nearly 15,000 passengers using this connection next year,” said Jaroslav Filip, Director of Air Traffic at Prague Airport.

The new route will be available seasonally from March 30, 2025, to October 23, 2025, with flights on Thursdays and Sundays. airBaltic will operate an Airbus A220-300 with a seating capacity of 148 on this route.

Czech Humor Leads to Surprise Victory for Estonian Village in Naming Vote

Recently, airBaltic caused a stir in the Czech Republic when the airline released the results of an online poll where the public could vote on the names for its fleet of 48 Airbus A220-300 aircraft. One of the winning names was the small Estonian village of Kunda, which won by a large margin due to the enthusiastic participation of Czech internet users. The attention stemmed from the fact that in Czech, “Kunda” is a vulgar slang word for female genitalia. This sparked a viral movement on social media to secure Kunda’s victory in the poll.

airBaltic operates more than 130 routes from hubs in Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere, and seasonally from Gran Canaria. The airline offers a wide range of connections to destinations across Europe, the Middle East, the Caucasus, and North Africa.
