The Champions Hockey League (CHL) kicked off its 10th anniversary season with a bang. Six exciting games graced the opening day of the 2024/25 season, including Dynamo Pardubice’s impressive 7-0 victory over Fehérvár AV19.
Dynamo Pardubice, a five-time CHL participant, gave the Hungarian side Fehérvár AV19 no chance. The Czechs dominated from the start, scoring a total of seven goals. Dominik Horváth was outstanding, making a significant contribution to his team’s success. New signing Jiří Smejkal also impressed in his first game for Pardubice, scoring one goal and assisting on two others.
This commanding performance not only secured Pardubice’s first three points of the season but also sent a clear signal to the competition.
While Pardubice got off to a dream start, Sparta Prague suffered a narrow defeat in a thrilling duel against Tappara Tampere. After a game that remained undecided after 65 minutes and a marathon shootout, Kristian Tanus clinched the win for the Finns with two goals. Both goalkeepers, Juha Metsola for Tappara and Josef Kořenář for Sparta, delivered outstanding performances.
Tappara secured crucial points with a 2-1 win, while Sparta Prague were defeated in front of their home crowd despite a strong performance.
