Prague Airport has received a significant international accolade: the Routes World Award 2024, in the category for airports handling between 10 and 20 million passengers annually. This award recognizes the airport’s outstanding achievements in expanding flight connections, offering marketing support, and successfully collaborating with airlines. In the final round, Prague Airport triumphed over renowned competitors, including airports in Calgary, Hamburg, Edinburgh, and Budapest.
Jiří Vyskoč, Executive Director of Air Business Development at Prague Airport, emphasized the importance of strong partnerships with airlines in his acceptance speech: “We are very grateful to our airline partners for recognizing our hard work and achievements. I am incredibly proud of our Air Business Development team for this great accomplishment.”
He also highlighted the positive developments the airport has experienced over the past twelve months. Connections to over 170 destinations have been secured, 14 new airlines have been added, and 58 new routes have been launched. Additionally, flight frequencies have increased on more than 40 routes, leading to a nearly 30% rise in passenger volume compared to the previous year.
First place in the 10-20 million annual passengers category was awarded by an expert jury comprised of airline representatives. The jury evaluated factors such as the airport’s marketing initiatives, the quality of collaboration, and the use of data analysis to optimize flight connections. This marks the third time Prague Airport has received this coveted award, having previously won in 2015 and 2017.
The award ceremony took place during Routes World 2024, the world’s largest international forum for air transport development. From October 6-8, leading representatives from airports, airlines, and tourism organizations gathered in Bahrain to discuss future trends and industry developments.
