It took just 20 seconds for Sparta Prague to take a 1-0 lead. The team from the Czech capital ultimately emerged as clear 4-1 winners against Oceláři Třinec in the Round of 16 of the Champions Hockey League, taking a three-goal cushion into next week’s second leg.
‘We played a great first period, which was so important for the game,’ Sparta Prague forward Kryštof Hrabík told reporters after the game. ‘The early goal really got us going. Overall, we played a really strong game. We worked hard, and the result reflects that.’
‘We know them well; Třinec is always a difficult team, but above all, we know that the series isn’t over yet—there’s still the second leg next week,’ Hrabík added in conclusion.
This is a point that resonates throughout the Sparta team, as the players can still remember how they squandered a 3-0 lead against Třinec in last year’s Czech Extraliga playoffs as if it were yesterday.
The two teams will meet next Wednesday, 20 November, at 18:00 CET in Třinec. Don’t miss this game!
