In collaboration with the Prague 1 district, the City of Prague has removed the last illegal Trdelník stall from Na Příkopě, near Wenceslas Square. The eviction was carried out under the supervision of the Prague City Police.
The removal followed a lengthy legal dispute. The tenancy agreement between the stall’s operator and the City of Prague was terminated on July 17, 2018, after which the city initiated eviction proceedings. Following six years of legal battles, the illegal stall has now been dismantled, ensuring compliance with regulations in this prominent area.
Giancarlo Lamberti, Chairman of the Prague 1 Municipal District Finance Committee, stated:
“Our aim is to promote a fair approach to the use of public spaces. This action sends a clear message that rules and obligations, including the payment of rents and fees, must be respected.”
Karel Grabein Procházka, City Councillor for Urban Development in Prague 1, added:
“Removing the illegal stall is another step toward preserving the unique character of Prague’s historic centre. We are committed to improving conditions for both residents and visitors.”
Prague 1 is continuing its efforts to enhance the order and quality of public spaces. The current focus is on removing additional unauthorised stalls from the city centre.
