Budějovický Budvar Remains on Course for Success: Record Beer Output in 2024

Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and the UK remain among the most important export markets

Czech brewery Budějovický Budvar can look back on a successful year: with a record output of 1.927 million hectolitres of beer, it has experienced significant growth both on the domestic market and internationally. This underscores the success of its strategy to promote Czech beer of the highest quality worldwide.

Budějovický Budvar achieved a record output of 1.927 million hectolitres of beer last year (compared to 1.865 million hectolitres in 2023). The brewery not only grew on the domestic market but also increased its exports to over 70 countries globally.

Budějovický Budvar has long established itself as an important player in international markets, fulfilling its main task: spreading the good name and joy of authentic Czech beer – both at home and abroad. Last year, this was reflected in growth on the domestic market and a rise in exports, which now account for over 70% of total production. Exports increased by 4%, with beer shipped to more than 70 countries.

‘Last year’s results confirm that our long-term strategy is the right one. We have managed to grow both at home and abroad – even in markets where beer consumption is generally declining. With record sales of 1.927 million hectolitres, we have reached another historic milestone. Many thanks to all our employees and customers who have contributed to this success,’ says Budějovický Budvar’s director, Petr Dvořák.

In addition to strengthening traditional and key markets such as Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and the UK, the brewery has also expanded into more distant markets, including New Zealand and Cambodia.

On the domestic front, Budvar increased sales by 1.7% compared to the previous year and further developed its collaboration with Czech microbreweries. In 2024, four limited-edition speciality beers were launched in cooperation with the microbreweries Zlatá Kráva, Dva Kohouti, Cobolis, and Lucky Bastard. The successful partnership with graphic designer TMBK, who created a new limited-edition can design for Budvar 33, was also continued.
