The arrival of spring, when nature awakens and the intoxicating scent of flowers fills the air, is also a time of renewal and inspiration. Blooming tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and clivias stimulate the senses, and when combined with contemporary art, they create a truly unique experience—this is the essence of the exhibition Předjaří: Prchavé Existence (Early Spring: Fleeting Existence).
The exhibition, held in the Imperial Greenhouse in the Royal Garden (Empírový skleník v Královské zahradě), runs from 6 to 16 March and explores the themes of transience and direct engagement with nature.
Alongside the vibrant blooms of the greenhouse, contemporary artworks reflect on the fleeting nature of existence and the delicate connection between humans and the natural world. Fragility and impermanence define all living organisms and the transient processes of nature.
For Fleeting Existence, artists have created works that not only depict nature—including humans as an intrinsic part of it—but also utilise unusual, often delicate or ephemeral materials. These include living plants, fungi, feathers, and other organic elements, as well as water, plaster, paper, Plexiglas, light reflections, fabric prints, light projections, and sound.
This sculptural exhibition showcases a diverse range of contemporary artists and artistic approaches that extend beyond traditional sculpture and media. In addition to sculptures, visitors will encounter objects, small-scale installations, light projections, and sound interventions, all centred around the theme of flowers.
