Saturday at Prague Zoo is all about the flamingos. On International Flamingo Day, visitors can expect exciting insights into the lives of these elegant birds. Among other things, there will be narrated feedings, encounters with the animals and a play station for children.
On Saturday 26 April, everything at Prague Zoo will revolve around the flamingos. These magnificent birds, in all shades of pink, are celebrating International Flamingo Day, and on this day you can learn a host of interesting facts about them.
Prague Zoo is home to three species of flamingo: the Chilean, the Cuban and the greater flamingo. Greater flamingos have been in Prague since 1977; they are the largest species of flamingo and can be found in the lower part of the zoo in the ‘Water World and Monkey Islands’ area, in the enclosure near Restaurant Gaston. The first Cuban flamingos arrived in 1960, having come from the zoo in Paris. Chilean flamingos then arrived in the Czech capital in the 1980s. The Chilean and Cuban flamingos can be observed together in the enclosure adjacent to the tapir exhibit.

In addition to the regular programme, there will also be special, narrated feedings and encounters with the flamingos throughout Saturday, as well as the popular play station for children:
