Following an extensive renovation, the Fairmont Golden Prague celebrated its reopening in mid-April. The iconic building on the banks of the Vltava now shines in new splendour—with stylish design, timeless art, and a touch of Czech tradition.
It was just over ten days ago: on 15 April, the Fairmont Golden Prague opened its doors to visitors from both home and abroad, starting a new chapter in the history of one of the city’s most iconic and historic buildings. Located at the start of the prestigious Pařížská shopping street on the banks of the Vltava River, the hotel is now unveiling the results of its multi-million-euro renovation of the listed building, which houses its brutalist architecture.
The renovation, led by chief architect Marek Tichý, honours the building’s architecture, originally designed in 1974 by Czech architect Karel Filsak in the Brutalist style. All of the artisanal elements preserved inside—including hand-blown glass chandeliers, gold-plated lighting fixtures, and ornate ash wood posts—have been restored, seamlessly integrating Czech influences into an otherwise modern design.

Elegant Rooms and Suites: Modernist Aesthetics Meet Czech Craftsmanship
The hotel has 320 elegant rooms, suites, and serviced residences that combine modernist aesthetics with warm tones of rich, dark wood, contrasting with light-coloured elements. This harmonious design creates a calming sanctuary where the beauty of the Czech capital takes centre stage. The interiors are inspired by the original architecture of the building and seamlessly integrate traditional Czech glass art into the structural elements, room dividers, and spatial lighting, creating a distinctive, sophisticated touch.

Fine Cuisine and Spectacular Views: Culinary Delights at the Fairmont Golden Prague
Guests have a variety of dining and drinking options, with six different venues to choose from. On the rooftop terrace, Zlata Praha offers a seasonal fine dining experience with breathtaking panoramic views of Prague. The Golden Eye serves modern Asian cuisine in an elegant, cosmopolitan setting inspired by the 1970s and offers impressive views of the skyline.

Additionally, the hotel boasts a 600-square-metre pillar-free ballroom, exemplary function rooms, and three exclusive rooftop C-Suites, all with private terraces, the latest audio-visual equipment, bespoke catering, and an experienced events team.
Timeless Art at the Fairmont Golden Prague
Known as a work of art in itself since its construction in the 1970s, the building now houses one of the most impressive and extensive art collections in the country, thanks to the owners’ great passion for Czech art and film. Works from the 1960s and 1970s blend seamlessly with contemporary pieces, creating a harmonious dialogue between past and present while complementing the hotel’s historical features. Among the treasures awaiting guests are chandeliers by René Roubíček, reminiscent of thistle blossoms, carved wooden colonnades by Miroslav Hejný, and gilded ceiling sculptures by Čestmír Kafka.
