    Strahov Monastery Brewery Beer Garden

    As in many other parts of Europe, Bohemia’s beer tradition owes much to the monks. The monks of Strahov Monastery perfected their brew between the 13th and 20th centuries until they were expelled by the communist regime. After the Velvet Revolution, the monks returned to their home west of Prague Castle and resumed their work.     Our insider tip: Dvůr Kobylisy was originally a farm. Later, one of Prague’s first cinemas, the Orient Cinema, was built in the barn, though the cinema was only accessible from the park. The inner courtyard remained closed to the public for a long time. Initially designed as a small farmers’ market, Dvůr Kobylisy now also offers a great atmosphere to enjoy a beer.
